A SPECIAL meeting of the Glendale City Council is
scheduled for 9:30 a.m. tomorrow morning (Tuesday) to consider how to rectify
the unsatisfactory financial condition of the Glendale Water & Power Department
that has resulted from annual transfers from GWP into the General Fund, where
the funds have been used for excessive salaries, pensions and benefits for the members
of the four city employee associations (unions).
But do NOT expect your council members to even consider
solving the problem by returning the funds, transferred in violation of
Proposition 218, from the General Fund back into GWP. Instead, Glenn Steiger, General Manager of
GWP, will be presenting a 68 page Water Rate Restructuring
PowerPoint that recommends solving the problem by RAISING the Water rates
