Subject: Salary Information Subterfuge

Dear Council Members:

I just received an e-mail message from a friend of mine who said in part:

Hal, the posted salary schedule on Glendale’s website is a joke!  I downloaded the file to study it.  No dice - You can't even copy the content to make a new file you can sort.

Other than the alphabetical order of position titles, the data can't be sorted to read and analyze it properly.

The headings and columns with code numbers, with no legends to clarify the meaning, makes one wonder even more, "WHAT ARE THEY HIDING?".

If any of you are willing to go on the record with an answer to that question, I would love to post same on my website (www.oggc.org).

If not, one can only assume that each of you are in favor of the subterfuge of posting a salary schedule, instead of actual salaries, on the city website in response to the public's right to have access to Glendale's salary information.

Sincerely,

Hal Weber
