Hi Hal,
I saw your email about how other city councils are taking a pay cut. I
think this is a great idea for Glendale!
I completely agree with you that $35,000 a year is way too much money for a
councilman to be paid. If we paid more than this, than the working class
might want to be elected to office, and I think that would be a bad thing for
the city. If someone is not rich enough not be able to work 20 or more hours a
week for free (or almost free), then I don't think they should be able to
represent Glendale.
If you need to hold down a job, there is no place for you to be elected to
government. If you aren't rich, we don't want you in public office!
Thanks Hal, for suggesting that Glendale
City Council be even more
of a volunteer position, only open to those who don't need to work for a
living.
