02-02-09, Sue Sarkis’ Opinion Regarding Glendale Civil Service Employee Salaries

Nancy Burnet Kent's analogizing Hedge Fund managers with Civil Service staff is asinine to say the least.  We are talking apples and oranges and although I agree that what is happening in the "hedge fund world" is unacceptable, that has no bearing on Glendale's City budget.

Civil Service employees are not supposed to be top-dollar paid staff.  Look at the history of what civil service was intended for.  The retirement benefits were supposed to compensate for the lower salary range.  However, the socialist unions have forever changed that thought.  Glendale's civil service employees appear to be higher paid than State staff for similar positions.
